Champion 912 Dragon Boat on Sproat Lake
“Black,” as we affectionately call her, is now moored at Nauticals Marina in Nanaimo, and available for paddling. If your team would like to enjoy some time on the water, drop me a line and we’ll arrange a session or two, gratis.
Black’s an IDBF-certified Champion 912 (9 meters long, 12 crew), and weighs in at a slim, trim 170 kg. She’s rated for a load capacity of 1150 kg (2530 pounds). She’s fast, nimble and a treat to paddle.
This is one of two Champion 912s that will be raced during VCKC’s “Guts and Glory” festival on August 27th.

UPDATE: “Red,” one of our 12 meter Champion 1222 dragon boats, will join Black at Nauticals Marina on Friday night, June 17th, and will also be available for a free session or two.
