2011 UPDATE: VCKC will be using a Champion 912 to train new paddlers during the month of May, and will be racing two Champion 912s at their Guts & Glory festival on August 28th. Details concerning the Guts and Glory Champion Sprints will be announced later during the season. The Black boat pictured below will be moored in Nanaimo, and available for paddling before the end of May.

The Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club is now home for a Champion 9m (10 paddler) dragon boat. It arrived on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010, and will remain at the VCKC facilities until August 28th.

A second is now on display at the Bay Centre Mall (Victoria) to promote the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival. On August 14th, it will be moved to VCKC, where it will remain until August 28th.

Both boats will be available to Victoria teams wanting to paddle in an IDBF-certified boat, and both will be available for demonstrations during the VCKC Guts & Glory 2500m dragon boat racing event. (A demonstration race between two of Victoria’s top dragon boat teams is also planned for the Guts & Glory event.)

Following the Guts & Glory event, the boats will be moving to Pearson College, where they will be used in support of the college’s new dragon boat program.
