Champion IDBF Certified 30' 10-paddler boat

Champion IDBF Certified 30' 10-paddler boat

If you have had any experience paddling the 30′ IDBF Champion or Swift 30′ dragon boats, I’d love to hear from you.

I think these boats are going to become increasingly popular, simply because they solve so many problems (ever had a paddle cancelled because there were only 8 paddlers present?), and because they are fast and fun!

These boats weigh in at under 600 pounds, and are sold “ready to race,” with head, tail, drum, drummer’s seat and tiller, unlike many boats which are sold on the “Detroit Model,” i.e. the boat is sold “bare,” with available accessories at extra cost.

The 30 foot Swifts have proven to be a popular addition to the Waters Edge fleet, and I am hoping they will have time in the busy Whistler schedule to fit them in.

Phoenix Rising

Earliest legends in China described the dragon as a miraculous animal with fish scales and long beards. As time went on, it became more and more embellished in the minds of the people, acquiring the antlers of the deer, the mane of the horse and the claws of the eagle — in short, appropriating the distinctive features of other creatures throughout the centuries.

The Chinese Phoenix, likewise, exists only in legends and fairy tales. Sovereign of all birds, it has the head of the golden pheasant, the beak of the parrot, the body of the mandarin duck, the wings of the roc, the feathers of the peacock and the legs of the crane; gloriously beautiful, it reigns over the feathered world.

The Dragon and the Phoenix often served in classical art and literature as metaphors for people of high virtue and rare talent or, in certain combinations, for matrimonial harmony or happy marriage. As an important part of folk arts, dragon lanterns, dragon boats, dragon and phoenix dances are still highly popular on festivals among the people of all localities.

Our products, embellished with the logo of a Canadian Dragonboat Team, represent balance in all things, with positive and negative in perfect harmony. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these items will support the Phoenix Rising Dragonboat Team in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
